The history of Wolfen is stamped by chemistry. 125 years ago, the region gained significance through the establishment of Germany’s oldest chemical site, Bitterfeld-Wolfen, which produced basic chemicals.
Today, the Bitterfeld-Wolfen Chemical Park is a shared area of more than 300 companies, employing over 12,000 people. Also located here and well-known is the Wolfen film factory, which held the monopoly of film production in the GDR under the trademark ORWO and is still in business today.
The immediate proximity to Halle (Saale), the cultural city of Dessau-Roßlau and to the bustling metropolis of Leipzig with all the urban amenities of a modern metropolitan area, meets the charm of a quiet small town and thus combining the best of both worlds.
At the beginning of the 21st century, Bitterfeld-Wolfen developed from a region extracting environmentally destructive raw materials to an attractive location for a wide variety of companies. The geographical proximity to Leipzig/Halle Airport, which is only a 30-minute drive away, also contributes to this. In recent years alone, the number of employees in the region has increased by over 30 percent. In addition to its moderate urbanity and the Wörlitzer Park located in the vicinity, Wolfen offers the ideal opportunity to maintain a perfect work-life balance.
- With the boom of the solar industry at the turn of the millennium, many companies turned their attention to the Germany’s "Solar Valley". Although, unfortunately many of the newly founded companies at that time did not survive the initial boom, the region is increasingly establishing itself as an attractive business location. The large catchment area and the proximity to Halle and Leipzig ensured the settlement of several well-known call center service providers
In 2018, the specialized inbound call center ja-dialog established its second location in Germany and secured premises in the prestigious Wolfen Town Hall. Since then, the site has grown steadily to currently employ over 150 people who provide high-quality customer service for various clients.
